Caribou Chair – Marmot Basin – Doppelmayr

The Lift: The Caribou Chair was one of the first lifts installed at Marmot in 1971, providing access from parking lot four to the mountain. In 2011, a high speed quad called Paradise was built, making the Caribou not needed. While Paradise indirectly replaced this lift, Marmot Basin never completely took this lift down. One interesting thing about this lift, it used to go to the top of the mountain. However, once the Paradise Triple was installed in 1982, the lift was shortened. (Paradise still operates as School House Chair). Today, Caribou remains rotting away on the mountain. I took these images Febuary 2019, and it’s all I have. Since I probably won’t be going to Marmot anytime soon, it’s the best I can do.

Here is a website with some pictures of the lift operational:

Thanks for watching!
